Wander Across Egypt and Jordan
April 2021
Passport:
You need a passport to travel to both Egypt and Jordan. Your passport should be valid until at least November 2021 and it should have 2 full empty pages. If you don’t have enough empty pages or your passport will expire before next November, please let me know and I’ll send you instructions for getting a new passport, or additional pages, in time for the tour.
Visas
While both countries on this itinerary require visas to enter, the process is quite easy.
Egypt – Every traveler to Egypt needs a visa, however, all US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand citizens have two easy options. You may choose to get a visa on arrival, which requires a payment of $25 USD at the airport. Or you may choose to obtain an e-Visa in advance, which is done online but can only be applied for 30-60 days before the trip.
More details about both of these options will be sent out as the time gets closer.
Jordan – As you are traveling as part of an organized trip, your visa fee for Jordan will be waived by the government. You will simply receive your free visa upon arrival at the airport in Amman.
Travel/Health Insurance
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance is absolutely worth it as it will provide peace of mind in case something happens. You won’t have to worry about paying for any health care you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses/tour cost in case of flight delays or trip cancelation due to unforeseen reasons. It can also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
My personal recommendation for travel/health insurance is Safety Wing.
They offer extremely affordable, extensive and reliable coverage for all age groups with a very quick sign-up process.
Arrival and Departure
Once you have your flights booked, kindly fill out the Travel Arrangements Form. On this form you can let me know if you require any pre- or post-trip accommodation.
Here are some important details:
Early Arrival – It is highly recommended to arrive in Cairo 1-2 days before the tour starts. The first day of the tour is September 20th and we have several activities planned for that day. I will be arriving in Cairo on September 18th and can assist with any pre-trip arrangements.
Departure – The tour will finish in Amman, Jordan on October 4th. Your departure flight should be from this city any time after 3:00pm (we will return to Amman at approximately 12:00pm on October 4th). If you need an extra night in Amman, I’ll be able to assist through the Travel Arrangements Form.
Airport Pickup
After receiving your completed Travel Arrangements Form, with your arrival/departure details, I will send you specific instructions about your airport pickup. A driver will be waiting for you with a sign once you exit the airport and he will take you straight to the hotel.
Accommodation
On this trip, we will be staying in a variety of accommodations. This includes hotels, guesthouses, an overnight train, a nomad yurt and a felucca boat.
Traditional Felucca Boat – We will spend one night on a traditional felucca boat while sailing along the Nile River. Please note that this unique experience involves the entire group sleeping on the outside, open deck of the boat. There are no toilet facilities on the boat itself, however, we will make several stops on shore for everyone to use facilities on land. But don’t worry about all that as it’s going to be a very cool and enjoyable experience!
