India: Pre-trip Information
India 2020
Are you ready?
The below is just a few simple details about the trip to begin the preparations. Over the coming months, additional information will be sent out that will ensure you are fully prepared for this adventure!
PRE-TRIP PREPARATION…
Passport:
You need a passport to travel to India! Your passport should be valid for at least six months past the tour dates and it needs to have 2 full empty pages. If you don’t have enough empty pages or your passport will expire too soon, please let me know and we’ll send you instructions for getting a new passport, or additional pages, in time for the tour.
Visas:
Every traveler to India needs a visa, however, most nationalities may now easily obtain an “E-Visa”. As a result, you don’t have to go through the process of obtaining a tourist visa from the Indian Embassy in your home country and you can simply take care of the procedures online.
Visa-on-arrival
For citizens of the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand, please follow the below steps:
- Visit this website: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html
- Click on “Apply here for e-visa” and follow the instructions
**Important:
- While filling out the online application, you can choose to obtain a 1 month, 1 year or 5 year eVisa (for different prices). The 1 month visa starts the day you arrive in India.
- It’s a good idea to list your arrival date on the application as one day earlier than you actually plan to arrive.
** When completing the application, it might ask for the below information:
- Itinerary – Delhi, Agra, Rishikesh
- Hotel in Delhi – Colonel’s Retreat, Defence Colony, New Delhi, 110024, India / Tel: Phone: +91 11 4660 4927
- Reference in your home country – Simply put the name and details of a friend at home.
- Contact in India – Put the hotel details in this section as well.
Packing:
You’ll receive more information about what to pack soon!
Travel/Health Insurance:
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance is not expensive at all and is absolutely worth it as you will be able to travel with the peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health care you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses in the case of flight delays or trip cancelation due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
Our personal favorite travel insurance provider is SAFETY WING as they offer great deals, reliable coverage and high-quality customer service. The sign-up process is also very easy.
Arrival in Delhi
We highly recommend that you arrive one day before the start of the trip. This will allow you to adjust and get over any jet lag before we start exploring. If you do arrive early, we can provide the name of the hotel we will use in Delhi so that you can book extra nights of accommodation.
*In March we will send out a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange extra accommodation and/or your airport transfer.
After the Tour
If you plan to fly out of India after the tour, your return flight can depart at any time on October 2nd as we will arrive back to Delhi the night before.
If you plan to remain in India after the tour, we can certainly help organize your train/bus tickets or offer any advice about where to go/what to do. We’d be happy to assist in any way we can as we know India better than any other country!
That’s it for now…we hope you are starting to get truly excited about the tour and we shall be in touch again soon with even more details.
Get ready for an amazing experience!
