You will need a passport to travel to Turkey. Your passport should be valid until at least October 2022 and it needs to have 2 full empty pages.
If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Visa
Every traveler to Turkey needs a visa, however, most nationalities may easily obtain an “e-visa”. With the e-visa you won’t need to go through the process of obtaining a tourist visa from the Turkish Embassy in your home country and you can simply take care of the procedures online.
For citizens of the United States, Canada and Mexico, please follow the below steps:
Click “Apply” and fill out all of the required information
Pay the required $50 e-visa fee
Check your email inbox and download your Turkish e-visa (it may take up to 48 hours to be issued)
Overall, the process is very easy and simple. We recommend applying for your e-visa within 2 weeks prior to the tour and will also send out an email reminder with more instructions.
Your e-visa will be valid for 1 year and will allow you to stay for up to 90 days each time you enter the country.
COVID-19
While travel restrictions and regulations are constantly changing around COVID-19, we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our tour guests. We will continue to closely watch and monitor the situation around travel to/from Turkey in the months leading up to the tour.
We will share more details closer to the tour date, but we are currently anticipating that all travelers will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test in order to travel internationally.
Travel/Health Insurance
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancelations due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
In our experience, the best short-term travel insurance provider is Safety Wing. They offer affordable insurance, good customer service and reliable coverage.
Arrival in Istanbul
The tour’s official arrival day is March 11th. If you want to arrive a day early, in order to get over any jet lag before we start exploring, we can arrange an extra night of accommodation for you at the hotel.
You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodation you may need.
After the Tour
The tour’s official departure day is March 18th and you can book a flight to depart any time during that day.
If you are interested in a post-trip extension to the Cappadocia region of Turkey, we will be organizing one based on the following itinerary:
March 18th: flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia
March 19th – 21st: activities around the region (visits to Pigeon and Imaginary Valley, Uchisar Castle, Love Valley, Goreme churches, optional hot air balloon ride and more!)
March 22nd: return flight to Istanbul
The cost will include flights to/from Cappadocia (from Istanbul), accommodation in a cave hotel, all activities, guides, breakfast each day. The cost will be approximately $900 USD but will depend on the final number of people joining this extension.
Please let us know if you are interested and we will provide additional details!
That’s all for now!
