You will need a passport to travel to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Your passport should be valid until at least January 2023 and it needs to have 2 full empty pages.
If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Kyrgyzstan: US and Canadian citizens are allowed to enter the country without a visa for stays of less than 60 days. As a result, no preparations are needed and you do not need to obtain a tourist visa for this trip.
Uzbekistan: US and Canadian citizens will need an Evisa in order to enter. We will send you a link to obtain the Evisa approximately 1.5 months before the tour. The Evisa is only valid for 90 days from the date it is issued so you do not want to obtain the visa earlier. The Evisa process is simple, takes about 15 minutes to fill out the online forms and it costs approximately $20 USD.
While travel restrictions and regulations are constantly changing around COVID-19, we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our tour guests and will continue to closely watch and monitor the situation around travel to/from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in the months leading up to the tour.
We will share more details around specifics closer to the tour date, but we are currently anticipating that all travelers will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test in order to travel internationally.
A negative COVID test will also be required in order to return to the US and we will arrange these for the entire group on the last day of the tour.
Given the current unfortunate situation in Ukraine and Russia, we have been closely monitoring the developments. We are also in touch with our local teams in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, receiving daily updates from them, as well as from local authorities. At this time, we do not anticipate that these countries will be affected by the current situation.
All of the people we have been in contact with on the ground in these countries also feel confident that this tour can operate without any issues. As a result, we see no reason to make any changes. Our local friends and staff are beyond excited to welcome you to their country after such a long tourism drought due to Covid-19.
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancelations due to unforeseen reasons. It should also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
In our experience, one of the best short-term travel insurance provider for this trip is AIG Travel Guard. They offer well-priced insurance, good customer service and reliable coverage.
The tour’s official arrival day in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan is June 13th. If you want to arrive a day early, in order to get over any jet lag before we start exploring, we can arrange an extra night of accommodation for you at the hotel.
You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodation you may need.
The tour’s official departure day is June 28th from Tashkent, Uzbekistan and you can book a flight to depart any time during that day since we will return to Tashkent the night before.
