Tanzania
Safari, Culture and Crafts!
August 15th – 25th, 2024
Passport
You will need a passport to travel to Tanzania. Your passport should be valid until at least March 2025 and it should have 2 full empty pages.
If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Visa
Most travelers need a visa to enter Tanzania, however, US citizens may easily obtain an “e-visa”. With the e-visa, you can simply take care of the procedures online.
Overall, the process is very easy, takes about 5 minutes and costs $100 USD. We recommend applying for your e-visa 1 month prior to the tour. We will send out the detailed instructions to obtain the visa through the official government website once the dates get closer.
Travel/Health Insurance
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancellations due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
There are many options out there, so we suggest shopping around. Once you have it, please send proof of that insurance to team@wanderingearl.com for our records. You can do so by attaching a screenshot or downloading the policy confirmation.
Immunizations
Currently, Tanzania DOES NOT require any specific immunizations to enter the country, with the exception of a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate only from guests that arrive from countries with a high risk of yellow fever transmission. This rule also applies to travelers who have spent more than 12 hours in transit through an airport in any of these countries. However, it is always worthwhile to consult with a healthcare professional about other optional vaccinations that might be beneficial for you during the tour. These may include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Typhoid, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Malaria and Meningitis.
Arrival in Arusha
The tour’s official arrival day is August 15th and the arrival city is Arusha. You may fly into either the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) or the Arusha Airport (ARK) as they are both conveniently located near Arusha. In case that you decide to arrive early, we can arrange an extra night of accommodation for you at the hotel.
You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodations you may need.
Departure from Moshi
The tour’s official departure day is August 25th. Please note that the tour will finish in the city of Moshi. You can book your departure flight from the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) at any time during that day. If you plan to stay in the city for an extra night or two, we can book extra nights of accommodation for you at the hotel we will use for the tour.
If you decide to depart from the Arusha Airport (ARK), we can arrange an airport transfer for you for an additional fee.
If you plan to remain in Tanzania or head to any nearby countries after the tour, we can offer advice about where to go and what to do. We’d be happy to assist in any way we can as we are very familiar with this region of the world!
That’s all for now!
We hope that you are getting very excited about our upcoming adventure to spectacular Tanzania!
We will be in touch shortly with even more details. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us anytime at team@wanderingearl.com
