Wander Across Cuba
March 7th – 15th, 2025
Passport
You will need a passport to travel to Cuba. Your passport should be valid until at least October 2025 and it should have 2 full empty pages. If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Please note that it’s important to carry a photocopy of your passport details page with you at all times while in Cuba.
IMPORTANT: Visa
Citizens of the USA, EU countries, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand require a visa, also known as a Tourist Card, to enter Cuba. This card is essential for your entry into the country and varies in cost depending on your departure location. For those flying directly from the U.S., the Tourist Card typically costs between $50 to $110. For travelers flying from other countries, the cost will be between $20 to $50.
The cost is determined by where your flight to Havana departs from and your nationality.
Most travelers can purchase their Tourist Card directly from the airline at check-in. Please verify with your airline beforehand that they offer Cuban Tourist Cards at check-in. Alternatively, you can choose to buy your Cuban Tourist Card in advance online. We will send out the detailed instructions to obtain your Tourist Card online once the dates get closer.
US Travelers
Travel to Cuba from or through the US, intended for tourism, is strictly regulated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). We will be visiting Cuba legally under the “People-to-People General License” for educational exchanges. US citizens and residents must retain proof of compliance with this license category for five years. We will provide a detailed itinerary before your trip and a Compliance Statement afterward to meet these requirements. Under the regulations in § 515.560(c) by the U.S. Treasury Department for “People-to-People Travel,” you will need to sign a Travel Affidavit. This affidavit confirms your participation in scheduled activities that comply with the necessary legal standards.
Immunizations
Currently, Cuba doesn’t require any specific immunizations to enter the country. However, it is always worthwhile to consult with a healthcare professional about any optional vaccinations that might be beneficial for you during the tour. These may include Covid-19, Dengue, Zika, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Cholera, Yellow Fever and Meningitis.
Travel/Health Insurance
To participate in this tour, you must provide proof of travel/health insurance. It is a requirement by the country that all visitors have Cuban government-approved health insurance, which is often included in your airline ticket price. Please confirm with your airline that your ticket covers this insurance. If it is not included, we recommend acquiring plans from providers such as Visitors Coverage and Insubuy, as they offer emergency coverage that meets the requirements set by the Cuban government for travelers.
Once you have secured your insurance, please send proof of it to team@wanderingearl.com for our records. You can do this by attaching a screenshot or a download of your policy confirmation.
Arrival in Havana
The tour’s official arrival day is March 7th and the arrival city is Havana. Please note that the arrival airport for this tour is the José Martí international Airport (HAV) and your flight to Cuba should be booked for this airport only. We recommend arriving before 3:00 PM so that you have enough time to settle in before our orientation meeting at 5:00 PM.
Please note that, for this trip, we cannot offer any pre-trip accommodations as Cuban regulations require that you’re accompanied by our local guide throughout your stay. As a result, you must arrive in Havana on March 7th.
You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer.
Departure from Havana
The tour’s official departure day is March 15th. Please note that the tour will conclude in the city of Havana. You should book your departure flight from the Havana International Airport (HAV) to leave before 3:00 PM on that day. If your flight departs after 3:00 PM, you might experience a long wait at the airport, as the latest we can drop off guests at the airport is 12:00 PM. Please note that for this trip, we cannot offer any post-trip accommodations, so your departure flight must be scheduled for March 15th.
That’s all for now!
