You will need a passport to travel to Iraq. Your passport should be valid until at least November 2024 and it needs to have 2 full empty pages.
If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Citizens of the USA, EU countries, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can easily receive a visa on arrival when entering Iraq. The cost is approximately $77 USD. You will not need to arrange a visa ahead of time. We will send instructions about the simple airport arrival procedures as the date gets closer, but to make things even easier, one of our representatives will meet you at the airport in Baghdad and take you through the visa on arrival process. This representative will also help you get your luggage and take you to your driver for your transfer to the hotel.
In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancellations due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.
There are many options out there, so we suggest shopping around. Once you have it, please send proof of that insurance to team@wanderingearl.com for our records. You can do so by attaching a screenshot or downloading the policy confirmation.
The tour’s official arrival day is April 14th and the arrival city is Baghdad. Please note that you should fly into the Baghdad International Airport (BGW). We highly recommend that you arrive a day early in order to recover from any jet lag before we start exploring. If you do decide to arrive early, we can arrange an extra night of accommodations for you at the hotel.
You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodations you may need.
The tour’s official departure day is April 26th. Please note that the tour will finish in the city of Erbil. You can book your departure flight from the Erbil International Airport (EBL) for any time during that day. If you plan to stay in the city for an extra night or two, we can book extra nights of accommodation for you at the hotel we will use for the tour.
If you plan to remain in Iraq or head to any nearby countries after the tour, we can offer any advice about where to go and what to do. We’d be happy to assist in any way we can as we are very familiar with this region of the world!
