November 8th – 18th, 2024
Your exciting Surprise Tour is just around the corner, promising to be a truly memorable experience! Please read the next document carefully as it has important information to help you get ready for the journey ahead.
You will need a passport to travel to the Surprise Tour destination. Your passport should be valid until at least June 2025 and it should have 2 full empty pages.
If you don’t have empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.
Wandering Earl Tours will handle any necessary visa processes for your Surprise Trip, if required. We will send any needed travel documents before the tour. Rest assured, you’ll have everything you need for a seamless travel experience.
Both the arrival and departure airport for this tour will be disclosed closer to your departure date. For those who opted for Wandering Earl Tours to book your tickets, you’ll receive them a couple of weeks before the tour. If you’ve chosen to book the flight tickets yourself, don’t worry—we’ll be sending you further information soon.
If you’ve selected the option for us to book your tickets, you will be able to add your frequent flyer information once we send you your tickets. Adding the frequent flyer details too early could link the ticket to your account and unintentionally reveal the destination. Thanks for helping keep the adventure a mystery!
Our Surprise Tour destination doesn’t require any immunizations to enter the country. However, as is the case when traveling to any country, it is always good to speak with a medical professional to ensure you are up-to-date with standard immunizations such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Tetanus.

- Population: Between 100 thousand and 100 million people
- Religion: Our destination has a mix of spiritual traditions that contribute to the cultural tapestry of the region
- Languages: While there is an official language, you might hear a variety of different languages during the trip
- History: The history of our destination is long and fascinating, with endless stories to uncover
- Politics: The political landscape is a balanced mix of governance styles
We’ll stay in a variety of accommodations. For the most part they’ll be 3* or 4*, with private bathrooms. However, some nights might be spent in more basic accommodations.
We’ll travel around using a variety of transportation methods. Of course, they’ll all be (relatively) comfortable! There won’t be anything crazy such as jumping on cargo trains or hitchhiking, so there’s nothing to worry about on that front, but transport may involve flights, trains, cars, vans or perhaps something else!
During the tour you’ll be using local currency.
In terms of spending money, you should estimate an average of $25 – $35 USD per day for all of your needs. This would be for meals that are not included in the tour, basic purchases (laundry service, snacks, etc) as well as any activities you choose to do on your own.
As for exchanging money, the best method is via ATM machines which are located throughout urban areas around our destination. If using an ATM is not an option, or your bank’s fees are too high, simply bring USD, Euros or GBP to exchange at money exchange offices in the cities.
**US dollars are not accepted in our destination. You must make purchases in the local currency.
**Credit cards are generally accepted at restaurants, cafes and shops in cities and larger towns. In more rural areas, cash is generally the main payment option.
We’ll go through the tipping guidelines during our orientation meeting on the first day. This will provide you with all the insights you need about local customs and tipping practices throughout our trip.
*Tips for local guides and waitstaff at included meals are handled by Wandering Earl Tours.
Rest assured, the surprise tour destination is very safe. As long as you use the same common sense you would at home, the chances of anything happening are very low.
➜ Watch your stuff – Always keep an eye on your stuff and avoid putting a wallet or phone in your back pocket. Keep your purse or shoulder bag on your front hip and make sure the zippers are zipped on your backpack. Simple as that! You can also leave valuables in your room while out and about each day as the accommodations we’ll use are all very safe.
You can expect relatively comfortable, but varied, weather throughout our destination. The chances of rain are minimal, with temperatures expected to be between 20C – 30C (70F – 85F) during the day and 10C (50F) in the evenings. In a couple of places, it might reach as low as 1C (34F) late at night. So, be sure to pack for both cool and warm weather. Outdoor activities will be enjoyable thanks to the pleasant weather, allowing you to fully appreciate the stunning experiences that await.
While traveling around the Surprise Tour destination, you will want a variety of clothes. It’s a good idea to prepare for the above mentioned weather conditions. Also, as is the case with many destinations around the world, wearing shorts is not a common thing. While you can wear shorts, it’s a good idea to have some pants with you too!
➜ Laundry – Laundry service will be available in most major urban areas. When available, it costs approximately $20 USD per load.
We recommend packing the following items:
The most important thing is that you don’t overpack as moving around our destination with your luggage can be tiresome and the less stuff you have, the more thankful you’ll be once the tour begins.
If you have any questions about other items you were thinking about bringing or not bringing, just send us an email and we’ll be happy to let you know if such an item is necessary for this trip.
In the destination, a couple of different plug types can be used. We highly recommend purchasing a universal travel adapter in advance to ensure you’re able to plug in your devices during the trip.
As for electricity, check your chargers to see if they say 110 – 230V If they do, you will not have any problems charging your device while on the tour.
During the tour you will generally have strong internet connection in the main cities and most of our accommodations will have WiFi. However, you can expect weaker connections in rural areas, with occasional poor connectivity. In general, the internet access will work and you’ll be able to do whatever you need to do online, but it might take longer than normal with the potentially spotty connection.
If you want a data connection on your phone throughout the trip, we recommend purchasing an E-SIM once we reveal the destination. We can also help set up local SIM cards upon arrival for those interested. Just ensure your phone is GSM-enabled and unlocked to use a foreign SIM card.
Yes! Some days will include time together as well as free time for you to enjoy a destination at your own pace. With that said, your tour leader will always be available to offer personal recommendations and suggestions as to things you might want to do or see, places to eat and other interesting activities that you might want to check out when there is free time.
We will set up a WhatsApp chat 2 weeks prior to the start of the tour that will include all of the participants as well as your tour leader. This will allow everyone to get to know each other in advance, ask questions and communicate with your tour leader both before and during the tour. You can even share your best guesses on what we’ll be doing during the tour! It will be very useful for you to have WhatsApp available to you during the tour as this will be the main method of communication.
That’s it for now and we hope you are continuing to get more and more excited about this surprise adventure, just as we are!
