WhatsApp Group
We will set up a WhatsApp chat 2 weeks prior to the start of the tour that will include all of the participants, as well as your tour leader. This will allow everyone to get to know each other in advance, ask questions and communicate with your tour leader both before and during the tour. It will be very useful for you to have WhatsApp available to you during the tour as this will be the main method of communication.
Tour Leader
Your tour leader for this trip will be none other than Derek Baron, the founder of Wandering Earl Tours. His journey in the world of travel began in 1999, and since then, he has led many successful tours across the globe. His extensive knowledge and experience will ensure you’re in the best hands for this adventure.
He will introduce himself and share more details when we create the group WhatsApp chat.
Frequent Flyer Information
If you’ve selected the option for us to book your tickets, you will be able to add your frequent flyer information once we send you your tickets. Alternatively, you can always provide these details at the airline desk when you check in. Adding the frequent flyer details too early could link the ticket to your account and unintentionally reveal the destination. Thanks for helping keep the adventure a mystery!
Local currency
During the tour you’ll be using local currency.
In terms of spending money, you should estimate an average of $25 – $35 USD per day for all of your needs. This would be for meals that are not included in the tour, basic purchases (laundry service, snacks, etc) as well as any activities you choose to do on your own.
As for exchanging money, the best method is via ATM machines which are located throughout urban areas around our destination. If using an ATM is not an option, or your bank’s fees are too high, simply bring USD, Euros or GBP to exchange at money exchange offices in the cities.
**US dollars are not accepted in our destination. You must make purchases in the local currency.
**Credit cards are generally accepted at restaurants, cafes and shops in cities and larger towns. In more rural areas, cash is generally the main payment option.
Tipping
We’ll go through the tipping guidelines during our orientation meeting on the first day. This will provide you with all the insights you need about local customs and tipping practices throughout our trip.
*Tips for local guides and waitstaff at included meals are handled by Wandering Earl Tours.
Staying Connected
During the tour you will generally have strong internet connection in the main cities and most of our accommodations will have WiFi. However, you can expect weaker connections in rural areas, with occasional poor connectivity. In general, the internet access will work and you’ll be able to do whatever you need to do online, but it might take longer than normal with the potentially spotty connection.
If you want a data connection on your phone throughout the trip, we recommend purchasing an E-SIM once we reveal the destination. We can also help set up local SIM cards upon arrival for those interested. Just ensure your phone is GSM-enabled and unlocked to use a foreign SIM card.
Packing Restrictions
During our journey, we may use one or more methods of transportation that have luggage restrictions. For this reason, you should limit your check in luggage to 1 piece weighing up to 20kg/44lbs with a total dimension limit of 158cm/62″. You may also bring one small bag weighing up to 7kg/15lbs.
