Wander Across Bhutan

Overview

Get ready to discover Bhutan, a unique and untouched destination where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with stunning Himalayan landscapes!

Starting and ending in Kathmandu, we’ll ease into the region before crossing into Bhutan and spending our days moving through valleys, mountain passes, and small towns where monasteries, prayer flags, and quiet rituals are part of the normal rhythm. We’ll hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery high above the Paro Valley, visit Punakha Dzong at the meeting point of two rivers, and take in the wide mountain views from Dochula Pass. We’ll also spend time in the open Phobjikha Valley and step into monasteries and nunneries where you’ll get a clearer sense of how Bhutan’s spiritual life shapes the day, including meaningful moments such as butter lamps and a cleansing ritual.

What makes this journey truly special are the rare and unique experiences made possible by our local contacts, offering opportunities that most travelers never get to experience. We’ll share a home-cooked meal with a Bhutanese family, enjoy breakfast in an extraordinary location, and learn traditional crafts from skilled artisans at a weaving center. With time to explore colorful markets, relax in the tranquil countryside, and engage with Bhutan’s welcoming communities, this trip offers more than just stunning sights, it’s an authentic immersion into the heart of Bhutan.

*A 2-day stay in Kathmandu at the start of the tour, and flights from Kathmandu to Bhutan and Bhutan back to Kathmandu are included!

The hike is approximately 4 miles round-trip and moderate in difficulty, although those looking for a lighter experience can opt for a pony ride that will take you to a viewpoint halfway up, where a café provides awe-inspiring views of the monastery and a comfortable place to relax. The hike can be done at your own pace as we'll have plenty of staff scattered along the trail. Once at the top, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the 7 temples built into the side of the cliff. Once back at the bottom, we'll return to our hotel for a much deserved rest and a great meal in the center of Paro!
