Overview

Wandering Earl Tours is going back to Japan! Now is your chance to join our carefully created, super fun and one-of-a-kind tour to this spectacular country!

Get ready for the ultimate Japanese adventure! Join a small group of like-minded travelers as we explore some of the country’s most fascinating places—big cities, quiet towns, mountain views, and everything in between.

We’ll start in Tokyo, where you’ll see how old and new sit right on top of each other. We’ll move through areas such as Shibuya, Asakusa, and Harajuku, with time for temples, markets, street snacks, and the everyday scenes that make Tokyo so addictive to explore. We’ll take in city views from the Skytree, and we’ll end our nights in places such as Shinjuku, where tiny backstreet restaurants and glowing signs are part of the experience.

From there we’ll head to Kyoto for a deeper look at traditional Japan, from torii gate paths and classic temple scenes to markets, tea culture, and evening walks through old lanes in Gion. There will also be a day trip to Nara, where we’ll find ourselves spending time with the friendly deer, exploring the historic treasures of this peaceful town and sitting down for sake tasting at one of the most well-known breweries.

Then, off we go to Osaka, Japan’s kitchen, where incredible street food, vibrant nightlife, and warm local vibes await. We’ll tour the city and its sights, eat ALL the food and hang out in the super fun Dotonbori district! Once we leave this region, we’ll make our way across Japan to Toyama and Kanazawa, two off-the-beaten-path destinations that will provide an entirely different element to our Japanese experience. We’ll have three days to marvel at amazing gardens, wander UNESCO villages, soak in the mountain views, visit traditional workshops, learn about samurai history, and have a soak in the hot springs.

This small group trip to Japan is full of extraordinary experiences, great people, spectacular food and cultural activities every single day!
