    Upon arrival to Amman, you’ll be picked up by a private driver and taken to our hotel in the heart of Jordan’s capital. Once the entire group has arrived, we’ll get together to officially kick off the tour with an orientation meeting and a traditional Jordanian dinner.

    We’ll ease into our first day in Jordan with a guided cultural tour that highlights some of the most fascinating parts of Amman. On our adventure through the city, we’ll visit impressive mosques and citadels, stop to sample traditional Jordanian delicacies and desserts and spend time perusing the many souks/market stalls examining the colorful displays of fresh produce, spices, and local handiwork. We’ll then spend a relaxed evening enjoying another great meal while taking in the lively atmosphere of one of Amman’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

    Highlights: Ancient Roman ruins, Madaba

    Today we’ll travel back in time as we explore and marvel at the ruins of the former Roman city of Jerash - the largest Roman city located outside of Rome itself. As one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Jordan, we’ll admire the stonework and craftsmanship that has withstood the erosion of time and easily imagine what life was like in this iconic city thousands of years ago. Afterwards we'll embark on a 1.5-hour drive until we reach the town of Madaba. Upon arrival, we'll check in to our hotel and then make a visit the world's largest mosaic map - an intricate 6th-century map of the Middle East that was discovered under the floor of a Greek Orthodox Church. Our local guide will teach us about the historical and religious significance of the map and of the region as well. After some free time to relax at the hotel or wander through the charming town, we'll meet in the evening for a group dinner.

    Today we’ll leave Madaba behind and welcome a new kind of destination - the enchanting and mysterious land of the Wadi Rum desert. Only a short 3 hours away, we’ll soon meet with our local hosts and switch into 4WD vehicles so that we can head straight into the sands of Wadi Rum. Stopping to soak up the otherworldly landscape, pastel-colored rock formations and rippling sand dunes, we’ll learn about the desert, its inhabitants and the culture of such a remote location. We’ll then arrive at our desert camp accommodation where we’ll sit down for a wonderful evening meal, admire the star-filled skies and have a chance for a quiet, energizing sleep. (The desert camp involves separate, well-appointed yurts. Those who book a single room on the tour will have their own yurt. Those who book a shared room will share with 1 other person.)

    After a leisurely morning, we'll take the 1.5 hour drive to the charming town of Aqaba. Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a guided walking tour through the laid-back center. We'll explore the vibrant streets and soak up the relaxing atmosphere of the only coastal city in Jordan. After lunch, you'll have the rest of the day to explore the town, snorkel in the Red Sea or simply relax on one of the beautiful beaches.

    Today we'll set off on a 2-hour drive to Wadi Musa, the town that serves as the gateway to one of the world's most remarkable treasures: the ancient city of Petra. Along the way, we'll be treated to views of the rugged mountain ranges and the vast open expanse of the Jordanian wilderness, as we make our way to the heart of the region's rich cultural heritage. Upon arrival in Wadi Musa, we'll check in to our hotel, head out for a walk through town and enjoy a local dinner.

    After an early breakfast, we’ll make our way straight into one of the New Seven Wonders, the Nabatean city of Petra. With a full-day tour of one of the greatest and most magical archaeological sites in the world, you’ll be left in awe and wonder at all times. We’ll visit the gorges, the famous “Treasury”, royal tombs, towering temples, sacrificial locations and for the more adventurous, the hilltop monastery. With stops for tea, lunch and conversations with local bedouins along the way, we’ll take our time as we walk through the site. Once our walking tour is over, you’ll be able to spend more time exploring the ruins or return to the hotel. In the evening, we've organized a very memorable and unique Petra dinner experience!

    Departing mid-morning, we'll head out to visit a local Bedouin village near Petra. Here we'll have an opportunity to learn first hand about their culture and way of life as we interact with villagers who have personally invited us to visit this area. This cultural exchange will take in local homes, on walks through the village and over tea and lunch. There will also be a chance for some light hiking around the countryside for those who wish. In the afternoon, back in Wadi Musa, you'll have some free time to spend in town or partake in one of several optional activities that your tour leader will arrange.

    Today we'll drive back north with a 3 hour trip to our seaside resort by the Dead Sea. After checking into our rooms, you’ll have some free time to head down to the beach (which is right on the resort’s property), float in the Dead Sea’s incredibly buoyant waters and cover yourself in its therapeutic and infamous mud. At 400 meters below sea level, this is the lowest point on Earth and by far one of the most intriguing places you could visit in this region of the world. After this unique experience, we'll gather in the evening for our farewell dinner.

    Today you’ll be picked up at our hotel and transferred to the Queen Alia International Airport in Amman in time to catch your departing flight. The airport is approximately 45 minutes from the Dead Sea.

Tour Essentials

Physical Level: Moderate
While the tour itself is not very strenuous, please note that it can involve the following: somewhat long days, walking tours in the cities, being outside in potentially hot temperatures, a couple of long journeys, early morning wake-ups and other similar scenarios.
Accomodation
On this tour, you will stay in different types of accommodation, including 3*/4* hotels and a 3*desert camp. All rooms in the hotels have a private bathroom. There are a maximum of 8 single rooms available. These rooms will be offered on a first come-first served basis. The remainder of the rooms will be shared. Solo travelers will be paired together, two travelers per room in two single beds. (*Please note: If you book a shared room and we cannot find another traveler to share that room, there will be an extra surcharge for having a single room.)
Transport
During the trip, we'll travel in comfort in a private minibus in order to ensure flexibility, plenty of space for each guest and access to areas that larger vehicles simply can't go.
Meals
Breakfast every day, 5 lunches and 8 dinners are included. With included meals, some will be served family style and other times you will be able to order anything you wish from the menu. All dietary restrictions can be accommodated although it might result in a limited menu.
Sustainability
As with all of our trips, we aim to offer as sustainable an experience as we can. Reusable water bottles and shopping bags are provided to all guests, trash is recycled where possible and we avoid mass tourism activities that cause harm to the environment and/or do not benefit local communities.
Small Groups
This tour requires a minimum of 8 participants and has a maximum of 12 participants in order to ensure the best small group tour experience. With such a small group, you'll be able to enjoy unique, rewarding activities that would not be accessible with more people. That's the kind of trip we love to offer!
