    Upon arrival to Amman, you’ll be picked up by a private driver and taken to our excellent hotel in the heart of Jordan’s capital. Once the entire group has arrived, we’ll get together to officially kick off the tour with a quick orientation and a traditional Jordanian dinner.

    Highlights: Walking tour of Amman

    We’ll ease into our first day in Jordan with a guided cultural tour that highlights some of the most fascinating parts of Amman. On our adventure through the city, we’ll visit impressive mosques and citadels, stop to sample traditional Jordinian delicacies and desserts, and spend time perusing the many souks/market stalls examining the colorful displays of fresh produce, spices, and local handiwork. We’ll then spend a relaxed evening enjoying another great meal while taking in the lively atmosphere of one of Amman’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

    Highlights: Ancient Roman ruins and northern highlands

    Today we’ll travel back in time as we explore and marvel at the ruins of the former Roman city of Jerash - the largest Roman city located outside of Rome itself. As one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Jordan, we’ll admire the stonework and craftsmanship that has withstood the erosion of time and easily imagine what life was like in this iconic city thousands of years ago. Afterwards, we’ll continue on to the peaceful city of Ajloun, located in the untouristy northern highlands, where we’ll enjoy a tour of the iconic Muslim castle that hovers over town. In the evening, we'll return to Amman.

    Leaving the city, today will be a historical journey unlike any other. We’ll begin by driving straight to the town of Madaba, also known as the ‘city of mosaics’. Home to the world’s largest mosaic - an extremely detailed 6th century map of the Middle of the East that was discovered under the floor of a Greek Orthodox Church - you’ll learn all about this amazing site and town from our local guide. After lunch, we’ll continue on to Mount Nebo, the place where Moses looked out over the Promised Land. We’ll stand in the very same spot he did and with incredible views stretching far into the distance, it is quite a memorable sight to behold. After our visit to Mount Nebo, we’ll continue our trip to Wadi Musa, the town that acts as the gateway to magnificent Petra.

    After an early breakfast, we’ll make our way straight to one of the New Seven Wonders, the Nabatean city of Petra. With a full day tour of one of the greatest and most magical archaeological sites in the world, you’ll be left in awe and wonder at all times. We’ll visit the surreal gorges, the famous “Treasury”, royal tombs, towering temples, sacrificial locations and for the more adventurous, the hilltop monastery. With stops for tea, lunch and conversations with local bedouins along the way, we’ll take our time as we walk through the site. Once our walking tour is over, you’ll be able to spend more time exploring the ruins or return to the hotel. In the evening, you'll participate in a memorable cooking class/dinner experience at a local home/restaurant.

    By entering Petra through the back entrance, you'll have a chance to climb a colorful rocky hill in order to reach some of Petra's more remote monuments and unbelievable viewpoints. During this experience, you'll have a unique chance to meet and spend time with nomadic Bedouins who are renowned for their hospitality and independence. You'll be able to stay in Petra for as long as you wish before returning to your hotel in Wadi Musa town.

    We’ll leave the wonders of Petra behind this morning and welcome a new kind of destination - the beautiful and mysterious land of the Wadi Rum desert. Only a short 2 hours away, we’ll soon meet with our local hosts and switch into 4WD vehicles so that we can head straight into the sands of Wadi Rum. Stopping to soak in the otherworldly landscape, pastel-colored rock formations and rippling sand dunes, we’ll learn about the desert, its inhabitants and the culture of such a remote location. We’ll then arrive at our accommodation - a desert camp where we’ll sit down for an evening meal, admire the star-filled skies and have a chance for a quiet, energizing sleep.

    Today you'll be able to take it as easy as you wish, surrounded by some of the country's most spectacular scenery. If you want to simply hang out by the desert camp, that certainly works. And if you wish to go for a hike, take another jeep excursion or partake in any of the optional activities offered by your Bedouin hosts, the choice is yours!

    Highlights: Floating in the beautiful Dead Sea

    After breakfast in the desert, we’ll gather our belongings, switch back to our car and embark on a drive to the Dead Sea, only four hours away. We’ll make stops along the way and reach our seaside resort in the early afternoon. After checking into our rooms, you’ll have time to head down to the beach (which is right on the resort’s property), float in the Dead Sea’s incredibly buoyant waters and cover yourself in its therapeutic and infamous mud. At 400 meters below sea level, this is the lowest point on Earth and by far one of the most intriguing places you could visit in this region of the world. It’s also the perfect place to pamper yourself as our journey through this wonderful country winds down. After your day by the sea, you'll be able to have a relaxing dinner at your resort as you relive all of the memorable experiences from the previous days.

    Today you’ll be picked up at our resort and transferred to the Queen Alia International Airport in Amman in time to catch your departing flight. The airport is only an approximately 50 minutes drive from the Dead Sea.

Tour Essentials

Physical Level: Moderate
While the tour itself is not very strenuous, please note that it can involve the following: somewhat long days, walking tours in the cities, being outside in potentially hot temperatures, a couple of long journeys, early morning wake-ups and other similar scenarios.
Accomodation
On this trip, we’ll stay in a combination of 3/4* hotels and a comfortable desert camp in Wadi Rum. You can always expect mid-range accommodation. Whenever possible, we stay in smaller locally owned establishments which means the amount of available single rooms may be limited. There is a maximum of 4 single rooms available. These rooms will be offered on a first come-first served basis. The remainder of the rooms will be shared. Solo travelers will be paired together, two travelers per room in two single beds.
Transport
During the trip, we'll travel in comfort in a private sedan in order to ensure flexibility, plenty of space for each guest and access to areas that larger vehicles simply can't go.
Meals
Breakfast every day, some lunches and 2 dinners are included. With included meals, some will be served family style and other times you will be able to order anything you wish from the menu. All dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
Sustainability
As with all of our trips, we aim to offer as sustainable an experience as we can. Reusable water bottles and shopping bags are provided to all guests, trash is recycled where possible and we avoid mass tourism activities that cause harm to the environment and/or do not benefit local communities.
Small Groups
This tour requires a minimum of 8 participants and has a maximum of 12 participants in order to ensure the best small group tour experience. With such a small group, you'll be able to enjoy unique, rewarding activities that would not be accessible with more people. That's the kind of trip we love to offer!
