Wander To Namibia

Wander To Namibia

Overview

Embark on a dreamlike journey across Namibia, where endless glowing deserts swirl into wild coastlines, wildlife encounters are epic and genuine serenity takes over!

We’ll travel through a country shaped by wind and time, from the towering red dunes of the Namib Desert to the wide salt pans and quiet waterholes of Etosha, where wildlife moves freely across open land. In the desert we’ll walk through dry clay valleys where ancient trees still stand, hike into narrow canyons carved by sudden floods, and fall asleep under star filled skies. We’ll have time to climb dunes, stop in small desert outposts, and visit the remote granite peaks of Spitzkoppe, where rock art adds a deeper layer to the landscape.

As we reach the coast, everything will shift. The air will turn cool, the dunes will give way to ocean, and we’ll arrive in Swakopmund, part beach town, part historical crossroads, and a good place to catch your breath after the desert. From here we’ll head out in 4x4s to Sandwich Harbour, one of the wildest places in the country, where sand drops straight into the Atlantic and the scenery feels almost unreal. We’ll keep our eyes open for flamingos in the lagoons, jackals on the sand, and whatever else decides to show up along the way.

Then we’ll head back inland toward Etosha National Park, where we’ll spend several days focused on wildlife in a way that doesn’t feel rushed. We’ll move between waterholes and open plains, watching for elephants, giraffes, zebra, springbok, wildebeest, and, with luck, predators and rhinos. We’ll end our days back at a comfortable safari lodge, with time to clean up, relax, and swap stories.

This won’t feel like a standard Namibia tour built around long drives and quick photo stops. We’ll travel in a small group, keep the pacing steady, and make room for the quieter moments that make the country land. A sunrise on the dunes, a slice of apple pie in the middle of nowhere, ocean air after desert heat, and the stillness of Etosha when animals gather close. By the time we return to Windhoek, the mix of landscapes, wildlife, and day to day moments will have left a real impression.

After a relaxed morning, we’ll head out for a half day 4x4 adventure along one of Namibia’s most striking stretches of coastline, where dunes roll straight into the Atlantic and the landscape feels raw and wide open. We’ll travel with experienced local guides in vehicles built for soft sand, which will let us get into remote corners that are difficult to reach on your own. We’ll stop often for views and photos, and we’ll keep scanning for wildlife that thrives in this harsh zone, such as flamingos in the shallows, jackals moving along the beach, Cape fur seals on the sand, and sometimes even a brown hyena if luck is on our side. Out at sea, we’ll also keep an eye out for whales when conditions are right. We’ll return to Swakopmund with time to unwind, wander the town a bit, and enjoy an easy evening at your own pace.

Highlights: Full-day safari

Meal

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we’ll spend a full day exploring Etosha National Park, one of Namibia’s most remarkable wildlife reserves. The name “Etosha” means “great white place,” a reference to the vast salt pan that dominates the heart of the park, a flat, silvery expanse so large it can be seen from space. We’ll travel between some of the park’s most active viewing points, including Okaukuejo, Halali, and Rietfontein, where elephants, giraffes, springbok, zebras, and wildebeest gather alongside more elusive animals like rhinos and big cats. With the park’s open terrain and sparse vegetation, wildlife sightings often happen at a distance that allows for clear, uninterrupted views. Your guide will help spot animals, share insights about their behavior, and explain how this unique ecosystem supports such an abundance of life. We’ll break up the day with rest stops and a picnic-style lunch before continuing our route through the reserve. By the end of the day we’ll return to the lodge for some free time and dinner.

We’ll also take time to appreciate the park itself, the silence, the shimmer of the pan, and the way the light changes across the landscape as the day moves on. We’ll stop for lunch at one of the park’s rest camps, then continue wildlife viewing before returning to the lodge in the late afternoon to freshen up, swap stories, and settle into another relaxed dinner.

Essentials

Physical Level: Moderate/High

Please note that this unique adventure can involve the following: long days, being outside in potentially warm and cold temperatures, extended periods of time in the desert, long bumpy journeys along unpaved roads for up to 6 hours at a time, early morning wake-ups, periods of time in safari vehicles, limited restrooms during some drives and other potentially challenging scenarios.

Accomodation

You can always expect comfortable, high-quality 3* and 4* hotels and lodges on this trip. All rooms have a private bathroom and all the amenities/facilities you'd expect. *Please note: If you book a shared room and we cannot find another traveler to share that room, there will be an extra surcharge for having a single room.

Transport

During the trip, we'll get around the country in 4x4 SUVs, with 3 guests per vehicle in order to ensure your comfort. We'll also use larger 4x4 safari vehicles while on game drives.

Meals

Breakfast every day, 10 lunches and 9 dinners are included. With included meals, some will be served family style and others will involve ordering from a menu. Namibia is well known for its fresh and wonderful cuisine and we can accommodate any dietary restrictions.

Bathrooms

Please note: While driving long distances between destinations, some bathroom stops will be in nature due to a lack of proper bathrooms in remote areas.

Sustainability

As with all of our trips, we aim to offer as sustainable an experience as we can. Namibia is highly focused on sustainability and protecting their unique nature. We seek out ways to limit plastic use, trash is recycled where possible and we avoid mass tourism activities that cause harm to the environment and/or do not benefit local communities.

Small Groups

This tour requires a minimum of 8 participants and has a maximum of 12 participants in order to ensure the best small group tour experience. With such a small group, you'll be able to enjoy unique, rewarding activities that would not be accessible with more people. That's the kind of trip we love to offer!

Itinerary Changes

While we do our best to follow the itinerary, changes may be made to any aspect of the tour due to a variety of potential situations or unforeseen circumstances.
