A Voyage of Discovery

Passport

You will need a passport to travel to Turkey. Your passport should be valid until at least February 2025 and it should have 2 full empty pages.

If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.

Visa

Starting in 2024, citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and most European Countries are now allowed to enter Turkey without a visa. As a result, no preparations are needed and you do not need to obtain a tourist visa for this trip. Upon arrival in the country, the immigration officer will simply stamp your passport and you’ll be allowed to enter.

Travel/Health Insurance

In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancellations due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.

There are many options out there, so we suggest shopping around. Once you have it, please send proof of that insurance to team@wanderingearl.com for our records. You can do so by attaching a screenshot or downloading the policy confirmation.

Arrival in Istanbul

The tour’s official arrival day is July 12th and the arrival city is Istanbul. There are two airports in Istanbul. You should fly into the larger and more convenient Istanbul Airport (IST). Please DO NOT purchase your flights from the smaller Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW). In case that you decide to arrive early, we can arrange an extra night of accommodation for you at the hotel.

You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodations you may need.

Departure from Istanbul

The tour’s official departure day is July 22nd. Please note that on the final day of the tour, the group will fly from Izmir to Istanbul in the morning. The tour will end upon arrival at the Istanbul Airport (IST) at approximately 10:30am. 

*** IMPORTANT: Please make sure you book your departure flight from Istanbul any time after 3:00pm in order to have enough time to transfer to the International Departures area of the airport. Be aware that Istanbul has two airports, the Istanbul Airport (IST) and the Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW). Your departing flight should be from the Istanbul Airport (IST), as that is where the tour will finish.

If you plan to remain in Turkey or head to any nearby countries after the tour, we can offer any advice about where to go and what to do. We’d be happy to assist in any way we can as we are very familiar with this region of the world!
