Wander Across South Africa – Pre-Trip Information

Wander Across South Africa

August 28th – September 9th, 2024

Passport

You will need a passport to travel to South Africa. Your passport should be valid until at least April 2025 and it should have 2 full empty pages.

If you don’t have enough empty pages, please contact us and we will send you instructions for getting a new passport in time for the tour.

Visa

Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most European countries are allowed to enter South Africa without a visa for stays of less than 90 days. As a result, no preparations are needed and you do not need to obtain a tourist visa for this trip. Upon arrival in the country, the immigration officer will simply stamp your passport and you’ll be allowed to enter.

Travel/Health Insurance

In order to participate in this tour, you will have to provide proof of travel/health insurance. Travel insurance provides peace of mind that, in case something happens, you don’t have to worry about paying for any health-related costs you may need or about being reimbursed for any travel expenses associated with flight delays or trip cancellations due to unforeseen reasons. It will also cover your possessions in the event that they are misplaced during the trip.

There are many options out there, so we suggest shopping around. Once you have it, please send proof of that insurance to team@wanderingearl.com for our records. You can do so by attaching a screenshot or downloading the policy confirmation.

Immunizations

Currently, South Africa DOES NOT require any specific immunizations to enter the country, with the exception of a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate only from guests that arrive from countries with a high risk of yellow fever transmission. This rule also applies to travelers who have spent more than 12 hours in transit through an airport in any of these countries. However, it is always worthwhile to consult with a healthcare professional about other optional vaccinations that might be beneficial for you during the tour. These may include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Typhoid, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Malaria and Meningitis.

Arrival in Cape Town

The tour’s official arrival day is August 28th and the arrival city is Cape Town. You may fly into the Cape Town International Airport (CPT). In case that you decide to arrive early, we can arrange an extra night of accommodation for you at the hotel.

You will soon receive a travel arrangements form asking for your arrival details so that we can arrange your airport transfer and any extra accommodations you may need.

Departure from Durban

The tour’s official departure day is September 9th. Please note that on the final day of the tour, the group will drive from Sungulwane to the Durban airport in the morning. The tour will end upon arrival at the King Shaka International Airport (DUR) at approximately 11:00am. You can book your departure flight from Durban at any time after 2:00pm in order to have enough time to transfer to the International Departures area of the airport.

If you plan to remain in South Africa or head to any nearby countries after the tour, we can offer advice about where to go and what to do. We’d be happy to assist in any way we can as we are very familiar with this region of the world!

That’s all for now!

We hope that you are getting very excited about our upcoming adventure to spectacular South Africa!

We will be in touch shortly with even more details. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us anytime at team@wanderingearl.com
